If Vietnam is a rising star in the global Specialty Coffee scene, then Moka Cau Dat is its undisputed Crown Jewel.

For international roasters and importers seeking an ultra-premium, exotic origin that tells a captivating story, Cau Dat Bean proudly presents our most exclusive offering: The Moka Micro-Lot. Grown at the peak of the Da Lat highlands (1,650m), this rare heirloom variety offers a cup profile unlike anything else in Southeast Asia.

    1. The Legend of Cau Dat Moka

Introduced by the French in the 1930s, the Moka variety (a descendant of the legendary Yemen Mocha/Bourbon lineage) found its perfect home in the misty, volcanic terroir of Cau Dat. However, because the trees are notoriously difficult to cultivate and yield very little fruit, pure Moka has become incredibly rare.

Today, authentic Moka from Cau Dat is highly sought after by connoisseurs worldwide. It is a true Heirloom Micro-Lot, preserved by dedicated farmers who prioritize quality over quantity.

    2. The Terroir: 1,650 Meters of Perfection

Moka trees are extremely sensitive to their environment. They only thrive in the specific micro-climate of Cau Dat:

    • High Altitude: At 1,650 meters (5,400 ft), the intense diurnal temperature shifts (warm days, freezing nights) force the cherries to mature at a glacial pace.

    • Nutrient-Rich Soil: The ancient red basalt soil feeds the deep root systems of these old trees.

    • The Result: Small, incredibly dense green beans that lock in a massive concentration of complex sugars, lipids, and aromatic compounds.

    3. Sensory Profile: A Symphony in the Cup

What makes Roasters fall in love with our Moka? The flavor is profound, deep, and luxurious. It is often compared to the finest coffees from East Africa or Central America, yet it holds a distinct Vietnamese soul.

    • Aroma: Intoxicating floral notes (rose, jasmine) mixed with dark cocoa.

    • Acidity: Elegant and winey, reminiscent of dark cherries or plums.

    • Body: Velvety, syrupy, and full.

    • Flavor Notes: Deep dark chocolate, warm spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), and a long, lingering honey-sweet aftertaste.

    4. Processing & Export Specifications

To honor the rarity of this bean, our processing is meticulous. We treat our Moka micro-lots with the highest level of care in our facility.

    • Available Processing: * Fully Washed: To highlight the winey acidity and floral elegance.

Cau Dat Bean is one of the few producers with direct access to pure, authentic Cau Dat Moka. For Specialty Roasters, this is an opportunity to feature a highly marketable, "Exotic Origin" on your top-shelf lineup.

Due to the extremely low yield of this variety, our annual Moka supply sells out months before the harvest is complete.
